Keith Nelson, DDS

Dr. Keith T. Nelson, born in New York City, graduated from Marietta College, Ohio in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He completed his dental training at New York University in 1974 and a General Practice Residency at Flushing Hospital, Queens, and New York in 1975. Dr. Nelson finished his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City in 1978.

Upon moving to California in 1980, Dr. Nelson assumed the position of Assistant Professor of Oral Surgery at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, San Francisco. He also practiced privately at the French Hospital Medical Center before moving his practice to Berkeley in 1984. Besides teaching, he was actively involved with the Orthognathic Surgery Center and the Facial Pain/ TMJ Clinic at the University of the Pacific. He currently teaches part time at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry.

Dr. Nelson is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also an active member of local, state, regional and other national dental and oral surgery societies.

Alex McDonald, DDS

Dr. Alex R. McDonald obtained his dental degree from the Medical College of Virginia and completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at the University of California, San Francisco in 1995. He was born in Scotland, and prior to attending dental school, he received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Department of Pathology at the University of Edinburgh and Napier University. He then spent the following three years in San Francisco pursuing a post-doctoral research fellowship at Mount Zion Hospital.

Dr. McDonald is currently on the faculty of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, where he is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Implant Clinic. He is also on the faculty at the University of California, San Francisco. He has authored multiple articles in the area of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and presented at both national and international meetings.
